21 feb Long toned muscles
As a professional ballerina, you always dance lengthwise and try to maµke each movement as big as possible. The bigger the movement, the more beautiful from the stage. With that thought in mind, I developed all my exercises. We will never pump up the muscles with repetitive movements, but we will pay attention to lengthening our muscles in every exercise. With every movement you have to stretch yourself, so to speak. Each time you imagine that your head is growing through the ceiling, that your arms go through the walls, and your legs work their way through the ground. In this way, your muscles grow long and you become stronger. Many of my beginning students are shocked at how much strength it takes to lift a leg. Strength, agility and coordination go hand in hand and you have to train it all. You’re not necessarily born with it.
