This is a classic ballet term and means “throw”. The leg goes up into the air at a 30-degree angle. This can be forward, sideways or backward. The battement jet\u00e9 is an important foundation for many jumps and trains the legs to go in the air in a fast, stretched and controlled way in one movement. It is an excellent way to develop control over your movement and train your legs, as you have to consciously control each ‘throw’.
