Terms: Battement Tendu

In this exercise, the working foot slides forward, sideways or backward on the ground and usually starts in the first or fifth position.
This foot extends fully and then returns to the starting position. In battement tendu, you learn to perform each direction correctly: forward, sideways and backward. In forward and backward directions, your foot is always positioned opposite your standing heel (the heel of the leg you are standing on) The working leg is always turned out from the hip. Always keep contact with the floor and never lift your toes up!

The battement tendu is a great exercise, which warms up your body, your inner leg muscles, your calves, your ankles and all the small joints in your feet and toes. It strengthens your feet and ankles. Battement tendu, by the way, is the preparation for many other steps and forms an important basis in my method. I am therefore a big fan of it.
